Some nostalgia I suppose. The hope they’ll make a super polished game at some point. I also really enjoy the competitive aspect, as well as the story play through no matter how silly it gets.

I read PokeSpe up to DP years ago, I should get back into it! I always really loved how the towns were drawn in that series.

It was the first series I really got into as a kid and actually beat (lol I was bad at video games when I was little) and I love the original art style. its also a cool way to play games with other people if you get out of your shell (which is not easy for me but cards/trading and battling kinda helps with that) its also weirdly simple at first but can be super complex (at least for me) when you go deep with competitive

I'm a huge fan of gens 1 -3, 4 is alright (even though the games themselves being so slow ruins them) and 5 is meh I guess, but I really just enjoy old Pokemon merch and the GB/GBC/GBA games. I might check out some romhacks eventually too.

There's nothing else quite like it. The games and series are deeply flawed but nothing else comes close to that specific feeling I get when playing pokemon. I like seeing all the new pokemon and new characters, new lore and speculation. The bare-bones world building allows you to fill in the blanks, making the experience yours.
As I've gotten older I don't consider myself a "gamer" anymore but pokemon is one of the few games I still make time for.

everything prior is rather incomplete (md only allows scanlation or stuff without a ongoing license), but the chuang yi scans for those volumes are still available on other sites

Pokemon used by humans for evil don't become evil themselves, do they? Pokemon are incapable of true evil in much every piece of Pokemon media I'm aware of, though maybe it's different in PokeSpe or Mystery Dungeon or some other thing I'm not familiar with.

This. I was pretty pissed when they announced the cut after Home was revealed and I had just finished my living dex alongside my playthrough of every game, every version.
I lost braincells upon seeing SWSH literally didn't have an 8th gym and everything beyond that being retarded as fuck except for the bogs, yet I still can tolerate them more than USUM

I've been playing Pokemon for so long it has just become a place inside my brain. My imagination can conjure a perfect recolection of every pokemon, so I often conduct mock battles in my head when I'm bored. Pokemon is one of the things I think about when I'm not specifically "thinking" about anything.

I think that's a really special thing. There are so few things in this world that can provide that uniquely nostalgic child-like sensation for me anymore, so I feel it's something worth clinging to.
