Literally the only difference from the first pair to the actual art is that the previous one have white light everywhere. That's it. The anatomy is the same, the poses are almost the same, everything's the same except the newer one doesn't have white light shining on every single corner of it, coming from multiple sources at once.

Wrong, middle Nidoking has longer tail, horn and spikes, different ears, larger claws and generally looks more grotesque and aggressive.

Compare the shoulder and hand sections of the arm, they go from angular and organic to a sphere and a jellybean, and the spikes have been severely neutered too

That's.. that's because it's slouching. The proportions are exactly the same, it's just bending forward, so of course its back spikes will be more noticeable like that. It's still the same.

a ton of monsters have non-trivial anatomical changes in the blue version artwork

all the gen 3-on redesigns are either
1) identical to the original design and ignore the blue revamps
2) incorporate their own round of anatomical changes but again ignore the blue revamps
