they do this because technically everyone gets a second chance in this kind of double elimination format (either you progress in the winner's bracket or the loser's) and this is the second chance for whoever made it to grand finals from the winner's side.
if the winner beat the guy from loser's in grand finals there is no reset, but if the opposite happens then the reset happens because it's double elimination and the winner's final player has to get his chance to fight in losers (which is still grand finals since it's the last set of the tournament)
