There is more than 1 type of WAY to be good. Most commonly when people refer to goodness, they are either speaking about virtuous good/heroicness, (which in this universe is represented by fighting type) or they're talking about innocent good/saintly goodness.
Which one of these is Fairy? Saintly good, obviously. They're compassionate and pure. Fighting types however are the actual heros that beat up the bad guys.
Saintly goodness is about refusing to cause anyone harm, and being caring and pure. Virtuous good is not like that, it's about righteousness and choosing TO willingly harm those who threaten to do harm to yourself or others.
Fighting types are the heros, they beat up wrong-doers and throw them behind bars. Fairy types should be the VICTIMS. Fairy is a stand-in for a sort of innocence and naivety that generally makes you rather vulnerable to bad people.
A Fairy Type should be vulnerable to Dark Types specifically BECAUSE they are "good". They're soft, it makes them an easy target to brutality.
