In my school many kids/teens wanted to stay in, even the popular/extroverted ones so it wasn't a case of "Oh, Timmy's being antisocial again" or something, sometimes you honestly just wanted to chill a bit. My school in particular didn't even have anything to do, it was just a big yard with nothing on it, so all you could do was waste your 10 minutes trying to buy something in the crowded kiosk, or sit down against a wall and talk, same thing you'd be able to do in the classroom. But no, the teachers wanted everyone to leave so they could lock the door and go smoke outside themselves. Even during winter, they wouldn't let us stay to take advantage of the heater, we were all kicked outside either way.
