Worst case scenario, they completely revamp the region with SWSH maps which boils everything down to a corridor and cutscenes with some sort of bike upgrade to climb up walls.
At this point, no reason to not take the Let's Go pill unless you really hate megas being in the postgame or something. Sure, it might not have abilities or held items but at least you get to do gyms in the order you want instead of being railroaded through straight lines.
