It might glitch out or even delete your save file. I beat a bootleg copy of Emerald, and immediately after I caught Rayquaza, the save file corrupted and had to be deleted.

Friend of mine had one that wouldn't let him trade or transfer from the gba games. Worked fine otherwise.

Bought a counterfeit HeartGold cart not long ago, had constant error messages with corrupted game messages. I was able to get to the 3rd gym before the game would freeze from a corruption within 20 seconds of starting the save file.

Not worth dealing with the dumb bullshit of a repro cart. Pay the extra money and get a legit copy

No one's telling you not to. If you can get a good reepro cart then go for it. It should be able to trade/transfer with no issues with other games.
