Why doesn't Game Freak just hire a couple of guys from Smogon to rebalance their weaker/older Pokemon so that they actually have some use? Paying 3 guys $30k a year to balance that stuff wouldn't break their bank.

Then why do they try, and fail, to balance the game? Fairy type, Mega Evolutions, movepool cuts, etc. All were shitty attempts to balance the game that could've been avoided by hiring someone who knows what they're doing.

What the fuck does competitive use matter when shitty pokemon are still profitable and marketable? People still wank charizard to this day, but tell me how much money gamefreak made off Deoxys? Most people dont care about the metagame, which doesn’t impact sales, which makes it far from a priority in the mind of Gamefreak.

If anything, redesigning pokemon into futas and waifus would me more profitable

That's why PKMN isn't really a legit competitive game imo. There's always gonna be an element of randomness with things like sleephax, parahax and critical hits. You can try to reduce the randomness, but all it really takes sometimes is one unlucky turn to lose.

Because they don't see competitive as more than anything than something players do for fun. Sure they'll buff a few mons every gen and update movesets but they definitely don't care enough to dive deep into properly balancing that aspect of the games.

I think that's part of why Smogon trends toward longer battles.
More turns means each individual turn is less important and one bad RNG roll or a bad guess on a 50/50 is less likely to result in an instant loss.
You need to have consistently bad luck or make consistently bad decisions for it to snowball into a loss.

the fact pokemon with low BST exists alongside pokemon with high BST means there can never be balance. There's always going to be shitmons. This isn't a problem.

Stat distribution, movepool, abilities, and typing are more important than just BST.

They can be outclassed and still have a niche. Look at Flygon. It's not competing with Garchomp or Zygarde, but in lower tiers it functions perfectly well.
