>>45708802Because she has relatively high levels at this point of the game. Also, she has good type variety. It's easy to get fucked here if you train too many Pokemon, have shitty team or get unlucky.
I've played Emerald once and I didn't expect her to be much stronger after playing Ruby. Her Marshtomp first critted my Kirlia and then Mud Shot slowed my Combusken. The battle was pretty much over after this beautiful display of luck. My second battle was just spamming Bulk Up and wiping her team with single attacks.
Honestly, it's an okay battle. I only consider Brawly to be bullshit in Emerald since he should not have high BP moves with items and set-up when you are running around with 15lv Pokemon. Even his supposed counters (like Kirlia) can get easily fucked.
