What is the next logical step for Regional forms? Regional pre evolutions, Regional forms of Mythicals?

Or do you think they will make a break with Regionals forms in Generation 9, to be unpredictable.

We'll just go back to Gen 7 style regular regional forms would be my guess.
They only added Regional evolutions this Gen because they like to add cross gens every second Gen. Except instead of just making regular evolutions like in Gens 2 and 4 (like everybody WANTS), in Gens 6 and 8 they decided to wrap them up in some stupid gimmick because of their retarded autism around making every game 'unique'

I don't think they will stop with the Regional evolutions, because they can create new Pokémon without inflating the Pokédex unnecessary.

We get a new Crab line but only one slot was wasted in the Pokédex for it.

HF hesitate to exceed the 1000 Pokémon mark. That's why we have all the new forms per Generation, whether Megas, Regional forms or Gigas. Overall, we get fewer new Pokémon (via Pokédex numbers), but the Forms make up for it.

I find it really weird how people think GF has been adding less Pokemon because they're scared of hitting 1000, and not because making 3D models for new Pokemon is harder work than just making sprites for them. Even in gen 5 where they went with lazy and ugly tween animation, that was probably still less work than having to animate an entrance anim, up to 5 attack anims depending on the mon, the idle, a possible idle break, walks, runs, camp animations, fainting, and whatever other things I'm forgetting. Implementing one mon now is probably way more taxing and cost-intensive than it was in any gen before Gen 6

I know GF doesn't make the models, but more designs is still more work for Creatures. I guess using "they" muddled my point, but my reasoning is that they're working on a tight schedule as is, so they have to cut it back on the amount of Pokemon that need to be modeled

Kalos+Megas was still smaller than literally every single dex before, and Gen 7 barely pulls past Johto's flat 100 by half a dozen or so, and that's AFTER the Ultra games' additions.
Galar you have a point with though. 88 new mons as of, 19 Galarian Forms, and 32 Gmax forms pulls it ahead of every gen but 1 and 5 in terms of new designs that had to be done.

Well yeah, but it's also the only Gen where they had to model EVERY other Pokemon from Gens 1-5 as well. They could just reuse them after that.

The initial transition to 3D meant a much smaller dex than usual, but after that it's just because they keep adding new form gimmicks instead of normal Pokemon. Whether that's actually a phobia of muh 1000 or something else (my guess would just be marketing reasons) isn't clear.

The problem here is:

Even if every move (pp top all of them) can be learned by that pokemon in gen8, i have to clean the slate on that pokemon just to RLEARN said move and PP TOP it AGAIN.

Why? Why not just cull any move that is NOT in the game?

They want an audience of people that doesn't want more than 251 mons in. Hitting a new digit wont hit well with them.

Regional evolutions were an interesting idea but it only really works with Cursola and Runerigus

Slowpoke line was completely unnecessary
Sirfetch'd should have just been a regular evolution and instead of that stupid name we could have something cute like Absir'd. While we are at that, we can bring back Madame and call her Maelo'd or something.
Mr Rime should have been a regular evolution or just Galarian Mr Mime

What does THIS have to do with anything? Adding Grimmsnarl and animating all of it's shit was probably WAY harder than adding Sawk and tweening it's limbs for it to to a little hop. Creatures doesn't have a significant staff number increase on GF, only having 144 as of 2019, and given that they're responsible for the most IMPORTANT part of the game, I can't imagine that they aren't also beholden to the deadlines.

Anon GameFreak has gone on record saying they don't bring things back unless they can put some unique spin on it, which is why Regional Evolutions are the first real crossgens outside of Sylveon for a while because the whole Regional thing is a "unique spin"
unless they find some way to make Regional Evolutions different from before, it's gone

Pokémon isn't the biggest "Videogame franchise", just the biggest franchise period. When we look at just videogames, Mario and Tetris are larger franchises.

Most of Pokémon's profit comes from merchandising rather than the video games, so of the two, TPC would probably invest in merchandising if given the chance since it is more likely to turn a profit. Don't know how much money of the merchandise sales Game Freak sees though if they wanted to invest some into the games.

Literally NO ONE official has said anything about exceeding 1000 pokemon, Gamefreak already consider Forms/Megas to be their own Pokemon anyway so they would technically have exceeded 1000 now.

Alola regionals sucked except for Marowak, Ninetails, and Brando Raticate. Most of the gen 8 ones are pretty good except for Slowking, Weezing, and the mime abominations.
