Why are you guys so fucking obsessed with difficulty in pokemon?
Don't you realize this game is literally targeted at kids and even toddlers.
Why are you trying to push crazy unrealistic standards to a casual game with a audience that never heard of competitive or nuzlocke or any of those terrible manchild copes.

Because Pokemon is so ridiculously easy that people want more. In reality, difficulty isn't what people want so much as it is an easy/lazy way to describe what they really want - engagement.
Take the Genius Sorority games as an example. Are they difficult? No, not really. But you'll occasionally have moments where you struggle and have to do more than just mash your strongest move or the NPC might come out with some strategy you weren't expecting them to that makes you go "Huh, neat!" (this is especially the case in the gamecube games thanks to Doubles). Same with Totem Battles. Nothing to write home about in the difficultly department but everyone liked them because they brought something new to the table and even just having to make the decision of "Should I attack the Totem and try to take it down quickly or should I go for the supporting Pokemon to make taking the Totem down easier?" is a huge step up from what people are used to (which is usually teehee i press super effective move).
It's less about wanting a game to shit on you and tell you to git gud, and more so the desire to actually play a game in the first place instead of being handed the win every time.

I hate everything about the newer games and I agree. It's such an irrelevant aspect of the games, you get so many redditors cumming themselves to the thoughts of pseudo-competitive games like Radical Red that gives everything smogon bullshit and expects any normal game to have that autism in it. I just want to explore a vast and varied region with my Pokémon with lots of fun side content, I don't want to play a fucking spreadsheet simulator. I consider these schizos to be on the same level as any other freak that still buys these shitty games. Trash people with trash opinions.

It's the opposite though. I've played a bunch of difficulty hacks and the main thing that makes them so fun is that the unique properties of Pokemon (even shitmons) actually come into play.
If everything is easy then every Pokemon in the game is basically identical - except some have bigger numbers than others so there's absolutely no reason not to exclusively use them.

BW2 had difficulty levels
Emerald's Battle Frontier is one of the most challenging things in the entire franchise because it's not a straightforward "unga bunga use attack move"
If it was aimed at kids Pokeballs would always 100% catch wild Pokemon without any fuss whatsoever
Not to mention the various dungeons we used to get that you could actually get lost in

Because despite the game being targeted at children, we are adults (some of us) and would prefer a higher level of difficulty. We don't have a gun to Masuda's head (as much as we wish we did) and you seem to be getting riled up over anons discussing improvements they want to see in a series they (used to) love.

Plus, I played some hard fucking games as a kid. Don't act like children are incapable of overcoming challenges in a fucking video game RPG of all things.

If anything, you should be bitching that people like this will whine incessantly yet never touch fangames, which usually do incorporate some level of challenge into their bosses.

Doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of people who buy and play Pokemon are adults. Why can't there be an optional harder setting?

You consider difficulty in PVE to be irrelevant because, let me guess, you can always go to PVP for hard battling. That's your excuse, right?
Have you considered these two things are very different experiences? That maybe I don't want to have to put up with learning competitive metagaming, grinding perfect Pokemon, and basically battle using a spreadsheet simulator when PVE battling traditionally offers more flexible approaches?
Difficulty is just one of many things wrong with 3D Pokemon and I've never once pretended otherwise. A harder difficulty is something that HAS EXISTED IN THE PAST, so pretending wanting it back is unreasonable is fucking retarded.

Even when I was a kid in the 90s I thought Pokemon was too easy. It's 20 years later. Game is actually even easier because you have all these crutch items amd can make your Pokemon go Giganigga mode and sweep everything in gym battles which actually should have some level of challenge.
Is it really so much to ask for increased difficulty? I don't want this game to be Ninja Gaiden I just want it to be slightly harder because at this point Battles are a formality unless you go full Smogonshitter
