It's going kind of shiddy, using MM at about 1400 eggs so far.

Last time I had a hunt go this long was for Sandygast in UM. That one just cleared 1600 before I was freed from this mortal toil.

Also casually doing dynamax raids looking for Shiny Buzzwole.

I've been doing a shiny team run in HeartGold (currently working on teammate #5 from the Meadow Safari Zone area) as well as shiny breeding in Crystal here and there
Have definitely thought about doing Darkrai and Shaymin in Platinum, they seem like they'd be really fulfilling hunts to finish

I'm on the fence about this.

- Streamlines hunting while as it's equivalent to how people hunt with multiple consoles, only a ton more convenient and original shiny rates are still there. Hunts still take quite awhile depending on luck
-Still enjoying the hunts and I can use my shinies on real cartridges and games such as the GCN titles or transfer them up
>Against it
- Obviously inhuman efficiency, it's cheating but still with original odds
- Weird OCD makes them feel a little less special because they were encountered on emulators
What do you guys think about this?

I have about 177 shiny mons laying around so far, so I might as well go for it. I'm not expecting it to get completed in the near future, but it'll be like a lifelong goal. I'm not counting any shinies I actually use, either.

I caught the Snom earlier this week while chaining for a good IV one. It doesn't have the best stats but it has Ice Scales which is still amazing.

Been trying to think of a better punny nickname though if anyone has recommendations.

I haven't started yet. I intend on using a Drapion with Acupressure, Thunder Fang, Crunch, and Feint Attack to try out weakening it but I'm grinding it up to around level 65 before starting the resets.

Not saying this to be mean, just trying to understand y'all's perspective, why do you bother shiny hunting? I get frustrated enough breeding pokemon over and over just for the nature I want, and while I think it's cool to get a shiny it feels cooler to me to get it randomly without me expecting it or going out of my way to find it, and even then it basically just sits in my box as a trophy if it's not something with good stats or that I intend to use.

Nothing in particular. Just swap-breeding.

Considering I already hatched a Shiny through swap-breeding about two weeks ago, a Shiny that I assumed was going to be my last bred-for Shiny this year, I wasn't expecting to get another one so soon.
Of course, it was another Female, since all my hatched Shinies seem to be Females these days, but at least it came with its Hidden Ability for once.
Anyway, I swapped the Magikarp for a Heatmor. I really couldn't think of another Shiny that I lacked that could be both Female and with its Hidden Ability.

1/8192 chance each encounter for swablu to be shiny. Swablu is found on routes 114 and 115, but I'd recommend going to 114 because the rate is 3/12 for Swablu vs 2/12 for 115.

Yes, pretty sure the only rates not changed by the charm is gifts ( the fossils and the alolan gifts) and raids(i think). Those would be full odds

Static encounters aren't affected by the charm ether, so the Regis and Muskedeer are both full-odds as well.

Pretty badly. It's my longest MM at 900 eggs (with charm, too); and that's not counting previous phases (magikarp swap). My Sh MMs (no charm) have all gone much better.

you're somewhat correct and somewhat incorrect. a shiny parent's opposite-gendered offspring can inherit its shinyness, but pokémon with cyndaquil's gender ratio (7/8 male) can never produce shiny females

it's because a female cyndaquil's attack DV can only be 0 or 1, but you need a 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, or 15 to be shiny

you only have 1/64 odds if you're breeding with a shiny ditto because the game doesn't have to take gender ratios into account. Anything else the odds depend on your shiny's gender and the pokemon's gender ratio

Someone gave me a hacked shiny mimikyu on wonder trade for some garbage I have from the beginning of the game. Was planning to hunt for a shiny myself when I got to it, don't know how I feel about this.

Yeah, that's true. Im thinking I'll hold out on it until I get my own shiny boy at least. I am happy with it, just not as happy as I would have been getting it myself... but I think I'd feel that way about a legit wt shiny too.

Going for 100% completion on Ruby. I needed more TM's for the Battle Tower so I speed ran my copy of Sapphire and found a shiny Poochyena in the process. I was keeping track of my encounters even though I wasn't actively hunting and found Pooch after 296 encounters.
Back on Ruby, I found another shiny Wailmer in Ever Grande after 8,336 encounters. It was the shiny I needed the least, but it's cool to have both shiny Wailmer and Wailord.
Taking a break from shiny hunting for now. Gonna finish up Ruby, play Colloseum, Fire Red and then shiny hunt some more on both Ruby and Fire Red.
