Okay, so Emerald Wally Edition is killing me inside.

I beat Watson, found the game blocked off Fiery Path with a Kecleon and sent me right to Flannery. I could cheat out a victory with my under leveled team, but now I've got to deal with Norman, but the only place I can grind is the level 20s at Jagged Pass.

I am designing a more purist version of an overhauled Crystal, with no removed or added Pokemon. The mechanics will barely change, except for a current consideration of making the ghost type special and the dark type physical. Some pokemon will receive gentle stat buffs while others will get new moves that help them cope. I'd love to hear /vp/'s feedback on newer generation moves they'd like to see in the game that might improve the balance, as well as ideas for the challenge mode. It wont be Kaizo bullshit, just more comparable to a game like BW2 challenge mode or the later stages of Platinum.

Yes. iirc Ariados's statline is now 75/90/75/70/75/45

I dont remember Ledian's exactly but she does now have 65/65 offenses to use moves.

Additionally, in regards to just those two, Leech Life is buffed to 75 and X Scissor is available via TM.

Moves I don't intend to add are those like Close Combat and Brave Bird that are too powerful for their drawbacks.

Playing through it right now, it's kind of edgy but not nearly as bad as Reborn/Rejuv. Though there is a bit at the start it is edgy, and I'm only a bit past the 3rd gym (yet halfway through the region, the gym balance is...weird)

I actually changed my mind about unbound, thought it was terrible at first. But I was comparing it to RR, which is more of a battle/team building simulator while unbound is more of an RPG. Once you stop caring about the quality of battles it's a lot of fun. looking forward to playing postgame now.

I don’t think there’s any good solution to achieving a sense of scale within the limits of the 2D battle screen. Probably not worth the trouble. Your workaround is pretty clever though.

If you want them to look smaller you could always use the Gen 5 backsprites.
Having accurate scaling is hardly an issue when the 2D games already barely did it

I'm selling a heap of fakemon sprites (front sprites/back sprites/icons) to try and raise some money to go towards my move to another country cause it turns out I need a lot more than what I've saved + I lost my job sooooo, I was just wondering if anyone knew a good place to advertize them? sadly only a few Gen 4 and Gen 5 games have different maps and most of the games that change the area are in a different language. Gen 3 tend to have a lot of variety. Gen 1,2,3 improvement folder only change the Difficulty, Pokemon or mechanics.

i'm doing mono-bug, no nature changing, no ev training, and i haven't gotten hard stuck yet (hard stuck being i feel like i have to train up a new mon to get past a boss). currently at silph.
protips: boosting moves are retarded, the ai can be exploitable sometimes, losing is an intentional part of the games design, save before bosses if you don't wanna lose happiness/money (though since your money isn't halved for wiping, wipes can be okay for getting extra exp)

This is why I'm playing Renegade Platinum with the Classic patch. Pretty much the ONLY fan-changed typing I can get away with is Golduck changing to Water/Psychic because it makes far more sense.

Flygon going to Bug/Dragon, Luxray going to Electric/Dark, Milotic becoming Water/Fairy... I'm not a fan.

Is there a rom hack that has some interesting a gimmick that is not ball bustingly hard/ grindy as fuck. Just finished a back to back clover/radical red playthough and I quite enjoyed some of the gimmicks that had (dens, hidden grotto etc) so I am looking for something that may have things like that but better suited to a more easygoing fun playthough.

DBZ Team Training. The Gimmick isn't so much you're playing with DBZ characters, but 75% of game is fighting type and there type chart is different than normal. The difficulty is the same as Fire Red.

Well, that's a GBA rom.

There are 2 different types of fan games, rom hacks and essentials. Rom hacks are just hacked GBA roms and can be run on emulators or the actual hardware if you know how. Essentials are games made wit RPG maker and can normally only be run on computers. It sounds like you're trying to get an essentials game to run on a mobile GBA emulator, and that can't work. The site you got it from probably hosts both rom hack and essentials games. You can only run .gba files, so make sure you're downloading those. I've never heard of a way to run essentials games on your phone, but I could be wrong.

Does that explain everything?

I started Radical red a couple of days ago and I've just hit a wall with the rival fight at Silph Co, that Electivire is insane. Don't mind the level cap since I just get to train other mons, though none of the ones I got up to lvl 50 can go past that shit, never liked or bothered EV training. Also, pic related was kind of shit since I usually head to Fuchsia right after getting the Flute.

I understand why he did that, since the non-linear method of completion one can do the middle gyms in can kind of fuck up the level progression something fierce, but forcing Sabrina into the 5th Gym role kind of fucks up the progression of the Rocket plot since you now basically do the Game Corner raid and Silph takeover immediately after one another.

Anyway, do you have Focus Sash yet or a mon with priority? One or both of those could work.

Shuckle learns Sticky Web at level 53/by move relearner if you really want to slow down his Electivire or the rest of his team down a bit.(Sticky Web is legitimately a game changer for a lot of team.) Aside from that, Rimbobee might be fast enough to Stun one of them, U-Turn the next the turn, and then come back later to Stun the other, assuming his Electivire doesn't Mach Punch.

Alright managed to defeat koga with a good "strategy" he sends out swellow with boomburst first so I use Boomer to force a switch into dragapult. This means that Boomer dies but it lets me get a clean switch into Xavier. Xavier stun spores the dragapult and from there we quiver dance as many times as possible and proceed to sweep with scaled and air slash. I have scope lens on Xavier so Air Slash just rips through people.

What are some recommendations for a solid babby's first romhack?
I played Naranja way back when it first released and loved it, but really that's it. Started Uranium but the bad fakemon designs turned me off, so I probably want to stick to official mons or maybe regional variants.
I've checked out Radical Red and might give it a shot, but I was never that into the deep mechanical side. Something more difficult than official titles would be ideal, but I really don't want to dive into perfecting IVs and shit just to get through the game.

While it was a clusterfuck, I actually had fun fiuring out that it´s just straight up every type. Trying ghost and dragon type moves first to hit it super effectively and both having no effect at all was pretty surprising, for a second I just thought it was immune to all damage.

Anyone else found the final battle with alien dude really underwhelming? He just kinda appeared at some point and then you go fight him. You literally banish him out of your universe like 5 minutes after meeting him.

Cant speak for the code logistics but the sprites are easy for me (provided it's not hey this variant looks nothing like the original) the easiest part is shinies provided you know what colours you want. But like those magikarp super easy once you get into diffrent moves,stats and other big changes it become less "Copy Paste" and more Add a whole new pokemon

Did a kanto only HoF of Radical Red and glad exeggutor and marowak is still solid. tried Johto only HoF with Slowking, Typhlosion, Blissey, Ariados, Steelix, and Tyranitar but i couldn't go pass lance because i don't have anyone to deal with primal dialga and garchomp. Kinda weird when in Kanto-only i had more trouble with bruno and beat tf off lance one try but its opposite in Johto-only team.

But thematically they're basically the same thing. By associating rock with the physical, minerals stones soil and whatnot, and ground with special, elemental earth energies and whatnot, gives them a reason to be separate types as opposed to one all encompassing type

I didn't say perfect IVs, I said free IVs in ANY stat you want. DexNav will give you max in 3-4 stats usually, and you can abuse savestates until you get a decent spread. You really only need good IVs in speed anyway.
And the power items are found after Koga.

You also didn't even answer the question. Name one other Pokemon game that has all these features.

After I lost like a billion times (hardest fight in the game imo) I managed to win with double intimidate (arcanine + mawile) + baiting thunder of mega gengar with lightningrod + tailwind noivern. You probably need to try a few times even with optimal strategy until the AI decides to do something useful.
Also I didn't change the terrain at all, had nothing to do it
