It didn't offend my eyes which is a huge leap for Pokemon.
The story was pretty garbo though and the one chick was acting like she was on a laugh track Disney show instead of in a movie, wayyyy too bubbly.

I thought it was decent and would actually like to see more stories like this told in the pokemon universe but doubt they'll ever do anything without Pikachu in the forefront for the sake of marketing so there will most likely be a sequel to this or a Red/Ash movie before anything else.

I do not want an Red/Blue movie. Maybe movies themselves wouldn't work too well for pokemon, I think miniseries would work best.

Besides Ryan Reynolds he was probably the biggest actor in the movie. Pokemon is an Asian franchise anyway.

enjoyable, not really an piece of art but the respect of the material shown that they cared about making a good movie before a cashgrab.

I'll say 6/10 mostly because it would have been easy to fall into the usual youtube parody shit in the underground battle scene going "le animal abuse lol so intelligent comedy" and god i hate early 2010's yt era

People really understate just how trashy it was to make an entire movie revolving around a pokemon who talks when pokemon's core identity centers around the pokemon NOT talking. That's part of what separates pokemon from contemporaries like digimon and SMT but those faggots tossed it out the window for le ebin meme points

If you're looking at it as strictly a movie, it was ok.
But as a pokemon movie, I left upset and disappointed.
And I've seen my fair share of kids movies as as one of the only adults not bringing a kid, yet I've never felt so uncomfortable with all the strangely sexual jokes. Normally, I would just ignore it, but not when it's a father making them towards his son while in the body of an animal.

As a movie showcasing a photorealistic Pokemon world I thought it fucking nailed it and it was everything I wanted to see since I was a kid. I just hope they keep making more live-action movies like this cause I want to see more of this world.
As an actual movie it's alright, but it still has sloppy writing and acting at times, which sadly seems to be a standard for these kinds of adaptations. I'd never actually recommend it to people unless they're hardcore Pokemon fans.

Decent movie all-around. The plot is nothing special and the script doesn't really do any favors for anyone that isn't Ryan Reynolds, but it's fun and has a lot of great little moments, like the Mr. Mime scene or Pikachu bitching about Psyduck in the car. I honestly think it's the best movie Pokemon is likely to get.
