He was never meant to be that good in VGC in my opinion, currently in BSS it's almost meta-defining along with Zapdos and in OU its an amazing mon that can fit on most teams, which makes it basically Greninja Jr. It actually feels nice to have two extremely good starters in a Gen, sorry Inteleon fans.

Meanwhile, mons like Incineroar, Amoonguss, Dusclops, Smeargle, etc. are basically immune to powercreep because they're more utility-based.
