I kind of feel like these were merged into Sneasel rather than reworked into Swinub. Both Sneasel and Warwolf feature sharp claws, Beta Sneasel was pure Dark while these guys were pure Ice. A bit of a reach, perhaps a bit of a crackpot theory but I kinda see it.
