The backsprite and it's evolution were, in Helix Chamber's recreations, interpeted as sumo frogs. Now, to an outsider, this makes no sense and seems extremely out of left field. After all, there's so little of the backsprite to see and work off of. Some interpreted it as a genie or a bomb. It was a bizarre choice on their part.
At least, until the Gold source files leaked, and we saw an early Politoed design that sported the same short hairatyle and had a sorta sumo-ish motiff to it.
Either Helox Chamber were incredibly lucky and happened to think of sumo frogs the exact same way game freak did without prior knowledge, or they knew of at least Gold source files before hand. Keep in mind the Politoed was pretty damn hidden in the files so it's not even a "just a quick glance" thing you'd notice if you only had two seconds to look.
