What can we expect next year? Pokemon's 25th anniversary coming up and there's no way Gamefreak won't do anything to celebrating it. I'm hoping we'll get Gen 1-3 games on the Switch e-shop.
What are your thoughts? Do you think a D/P remake will be announced too?

I am actually praying that they don't remake Gen IV. Let them be untouched and tainted like my beloved Hoenn.
After ORAS and short & shit, I hope they don't remake any more old games.

I could see getting 1-3 on the eshop, but they could also be added to Switch Online’s inevitable Gameboy app too. They could also do a limited release like they did with Shadow Dragon and have it end by the end of next year
As for mainline games, I’m praying they leave Sinnoh alone for a little while longer, but realistically I think they will. We got Gen VII when everyone was expecting Pokémon Z because it was an anniversary year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up getting Gen IX when everyone expects Sinnoh remakes for the same reason

I don't think we'll get Gen 9. It'd take a lot of effort to make a new region complete with new mons and characters that isn't optimal to do during a virus pandemic. Not to mention that a new gen isn't going to add much to the franchise right now with gen 8 still feeling somewhat new.
