-little experience in game design

Gen 1 doesnt have absurd min maxing outside of a handful of example like chansey or alakazam. Gen 7 is the king of min/max spreads with the ultra beasts.

That's not min maxing though. In fact, it may even be better if it had higher special in the early games, since it gets Thunderbolt, Surf, Blizzard and Fire Blast.

Furret's highest stat is 90 speed, Ariados's highest stat is 90 attack
Plus there's a bunch of Pokemon with exactly one high stat like Dunsparce, Ledian, or Jumpluff

Because minmaxed pokemon are the best.
"All arounder" pokemon like golduck and dewgong are completely useless, and to make matters worse they never even got good abilities to compensate.
