Instead of simply adding the ability to control the Pokemon itself, we got actual representation from the ever important trainers: the symbiotic backbone of the Pokemon franchise. Not only that, but as for the Pokemon themselves, we got the unarguably most popular and iconic Starter Trio. And instead of making them all their fatass final forms, they gave us great gameplay variety by giving us a Fast, Nimble and Small Combo-oriented character in Squirtle, a Medium-Weight character with lots disjoints that is also one of the only quadruped character in the game with Ivysaur, and a Slow, Heavy-hitter that is also one of the most popular Pokemon ever in Charizard. And it's all in the same package, which makes it even more impressive.
Also, i guess Pikachu's there too. He's the mascot, so he definitely needs to be there, so whatever. Every other Pokemon is either ugly as sin or expendable and we would lose nothing if they were cut, even Mewtwo. He's the original Shadow the Edgehog with a shitty and sickening sad dark backstory, so fuck him. I personally think those 4 reps are the only ones the Pokemon franchise needs and deserves, but if i were forced to keep one of the other shitters, it'd probably be Greninja. Lucario is an ugly jew nose fag, and is possibly the biggest Furfag magnet in the world, so his disappearance from the game would instantly make the community at least 50 times better. Jiggs is just a DAT BOI-tier meme in terms of forgotten shitter. Literally more memorable because of Hungrybox than anything Pokemon related. Pichu is a Pikaclone. Incinigger is almost as bad as Lucario in terms of ugly furfag shit, except that he ONLY attracts literal fags besides being an eyesore. Gren has the better playstyle and it's very popular, so he stays. Also the only good Gen 8 rep would be
