I liked morimoto's games, I think having the battle director be the game director is a great idea for a very battle-focused experience.
However, the region design of hoenn and sinnoh, their incorporated lore and mysteries, honestly makes me like masuda best. He's definitely lost his spark, sadly, but he really delivered back in the day and paved the way for pokemon's continued relevance with gen 3 and 4.

I would probably go for Morimoto, but I would really like to see how he would handle a new game all by himself, instead of doing third releases or remakes

Morimoto and Takao Unno improved Hoenn, Johto and Unova.

I never played USUM past picking a starter, so I wouldn’t know if Iwao did a good job or not.
