Because like gen 2, they were making Pokemon that didn't even seem fully evolved and would get actual final evolutions in a later gen. They didn't go through with that after gen 4 got shat on, so mawile had to settle for a mega

there should be no mono-staged pokemon besides legendaries, Mega mawile is a nice design but it's now that the megas got culled pokemon like mawile are now just to weak to use late game

Mawile doesnt need to be strong and i dont want to anyway, i just wish it had more interesting/gimicky talents that has to do with its unique design.

yes they both should, a ditto evo with it's own version of sketch would be cool as well as having moves like mimic and mirror move.

single stage mons like druddigon, lapras etc should get a pre evo, and mabye a slight stat boost if needed
