Some things are simply popular and not overpowered. Rotom wash was a great example in older gens, nobody sane would have called it OP or centralizing, but it's extremely general purpose use and ability to just be stuck on any team and do decently skyrocketed it's usage. Shit that's brain dead to use will always be super popular, but it shouldnt be bumped to a banlist just because of it.

The thing is that the meta now is so different from back then.
Ice resists are plentiful when they were basically non-existent before, passive contact damage/status are extremely prevalent elements of team building now so brainless U-turning is a risky play, and keeping rocks off the field isn't as easy as it was before.
Darm would absolutely still be a top 15 or top 5 mon, but it being broken is a bit questionable.
I don't think a suspect would pass though.
it would be the Isle of Armor Melmetal situation all over again.

It wasn't, it required a lot of skill to use compared to scarf because of how frail darm was and how it narrowly missed OHKO's on some physically defensive targets:

You needed to surprise the opponent with band to nab a KO, so failing that meant they could switch into pex and find a way to heal damage later in the game.
I managed to make reqs with band in that dynamax suspect and it was very hard to use toward the end, since using band Darm-G and scarf Dracovish doesn't really leave your team room for a true revenge killer.

the big issue is OU has no strong priority user to really keep glass cannons or frail setup sweepers in check
scizor, conk and breloom aren't good enough for OU, Ash-Gren is kill and rillaboom runs into a lot of common quad resists that force it out

Stall is weak to setup sweepers and mons that generally resist hazards, like steel and poison types. Almost no Pokemon that would be legal in OU is strong enough to KO an entire stall core without any setup, not even darm.
Meanwhile, darm is weak to all hazards, can be easily scouted with protect and worn down with contact damage.
Urshifu-SS destroys stall, although there are ways to handle it by sponging Wicked Blow PP. Darm-G doesn't threaten stall cores in the slightest while completely suffocating hyper offence.

Semi reliable recovery, setup options, status, bulk, and an immunity to Toxic/Paralysis.
All regenerators lose to Rotom-Poison, as do Skarm, Corviknight, Chansey-Blissey and Unaware Clefable. Sludge Bomb means even Mega Sableye isn't safe.

Genesect, Pheromosa, and Magearna carry coverage that make guessing the wrong set fatal. Urshifu-SS has very little defensive counterplay even at teambuilder.

OU punishes contact so I think Garm would drop Flare Blitz, Fire Punch and Ice Punch. Despite the higher accuracy hitting into a resist with Rocky Helmet cuts down Garm's longevity since it's forced to switch.
Rocks obviously eat 25% every switch, meaning Garm has to come it when it knows it can sweep or when rocks are gone. That limits how it can be used and Icicle Crash still has that nasty miss rate.
Band is high risk, high reward. Scarf isn't really the problem that people think it is because webs HO neutralize scarf pretty easily.

The only things that used to be switch-ins back when it was legal were Rotom-H and Corsola, but they need to be at 100% or else an I.Crash Flinch ruins them, and don't get me started on how those 2 are garbage now and G-Darm being back won't make them relevant because like i said, offensive cores (Urshifu literally turns G-Corsola into an onahole)

The only reason band Darm-G works is because it bluffs the superior scarf set and nabs a surprise KO. If you want a generic physical wallbreaker, any mon with Swords Dance will do that better.
In the dynamax meta, the only relevant mon with SD was Bisharp. And Urshifu is completely superior as a banded wallbreaker due to having fewer defensive answers with only slightly less power.
Gdarm has the same offensive profile as Gen VII Tapu Lele, and nobody thinks Tapu Lele's specs set is broken. It's only the scarf set which combines a high speed tier with a free choice boost courtesy of ability.

This is balanced out by a guaranteed choice lock, meaning said checks can simply use Protect to scout its moves.
Unlike Terrakion, Darm doesn't resist rocks or can swords dance, so it can't punish Protect without using the gimmicky Zen Mode.
The mons Darm would love to kill aren't running Protect because of Urshifu. Understandably, Darm can't come back until Urshifu is banned.

You say it like G-Darm doesn't output damage with scarf and unlike Terrakion, G-Darm has immediate damage and like i said previously, the existence of bullshit like G-Darm would enforce teams to have more than 3 Bulky mons that can cycle from each other just to prevent G-Darm from killing things and that's how we get super stally formats like what we had when Dracovish was around.

And this should go without saying it, but Terrakion is dogshit and cannot compare to the power of G-Darm.

They're not comparable. Scarf Dracovish hits as hard as banded Darm-G. Only Scarf Dracozolt hits harder and both are the single strongest immediate power attackers in the game's history.
Dracovish is also not frail, with a strong defensive typing and good bulk that resists two forms of priority.

Adding insanely strong stuff like darm-g will inevitably lead to an extremely stally meta. When an extremely strong threat is in the game that absolutely MUST be accounted for in teambuilder or your team gets 6-0d, they naturally lead to stall being the dominant style. Band’s ludicrous power and Scarf’s excellent speed tier gives all other teamstyles an annoying dilemma to have to make. Maybe my Corviknight can take scarf icicle crash, so I switch it in, but I get blown the fuck back by banded icicle crash. Or maybe I can revenge kill him with my Spectrier or Dragapult? No, he’s FASTER than me, and I lose ANOTHER mom because I guessed incorrectly off a 50\50 coinflip. The only way to reliably stop Darm-G is by switching around regen cores with boots, praying that it locks itself into the wrong move. Nothing can, by itself, take a single hit and retaliate before Darm kills it. Offensive pokemon can’t take a hit at all, and defensive Pokemon like Toxapex can’t switch into moves like Earthquake, as well as they have no way to effectively force you out. The only solution is spamming regen cores, which loses to the sub+belly drum variant with Zen Mode, which is perfectly viable because of the mental dilemma you have when faced with this retardedly broken thing. That’s why the less retarded people in the thread are saying no, and so am I.
