They should go for it. Cashing on nostalgia is something that GF is still pretty decent at. Of course such a game will fulfill its intended role better than anything that follows after Swooshie.
Also, people will love Johto anyway, as long as it keeps to the general image of Johto that was established for years. This sounds like something really hard to fuck up.

Why Marill and not the baby one? I know the baby one is a later gen but it would sync so well with Pichu. Hopefully the real games do use baby pokemon.

I'm clamoring for it. Give me more Johto with mounts, following pokemon, and overworld encounters. I wish it wasn't so closely tied with Go, though. Let there be options to have wild battles and normal catching.

Low effort asset flip that could easily fill in for what would otherwise be a gap year and get away with being incompatible with the previous game, unlike a traditional game which, no matter what comes next, unless it's the next generation, is being held up to expectations to port over and include all of the content from the prior game for compatibility's sake.

They would either need to use 2 baby pokemon (for example, Magby/Elekid) or 2 first-stage Pokemon (ex. Phanpy/Teddiursa) definitely not a mix like OP's pic. Pikachu and Eevee worked because both were stage 1 of 2 in their lines in Kanto, so they were at a similar power level after the boosts.

The further from release a DLC releases, the less it sells. Given those games came out in 2018 it's very unlikely they'd get DLC at this stage.

One of them will definitely be Togepi, based on Misty's in the anime and the in-game egg that introduces the concept of eggs. The other pick is completely up in the air. I don't think it'll be Pichu because the general public doesn't really give a shit about Pichu and they wouldn't stick you with a Pichu for the entire game.

That's because the "leakers" on vp are all fakes looking for attention, and Sinnoh gets more of that. Leak pages outside of here have said more Let's Go is possible.

If they go with Togepi, they'll have to get rid of or alter the Togepi egg part of the story. I don't think it's popular enough to make them feel the need to do that. Maybe I'm wrong but I really doubt it's more popular than Pichu is whether Pichu is actually popular or not. I think they'll just reuse Pikachu and Eevee again. Or a Pichu that will only evolve once.

To me Let's Go games just felt like a quick attempt to try to cash in on Pokemon GO popularity on the Switch. But they didn't sell any better than the usual remakes. I could see one maybe getting made in the future, but they're not likely going to replace the usual remakes that use the current gen's gimmick.
