Just beat Shield, I liked it enough (i was expecting a broken buggy mess but i guess the game got patched? i did not see the shit people's webms showed) to want the DLC, but literally everytime I see people talking about said DLC nobody talks about how long it takes to beat and I don't want to jump on a 30 dollar expansion without it being atleast meaty enough to last 20 hours. What is it like?

They aren't 20 hours worth of story but I still think they are worth it. The dynamax adventures are a fun little grind (at least in my opinion) and the stories, while relatively short, are enjoyable. Plus you get access to apricorn balls in IoA, though the rate for them is obscenely low.

The story for both of em are pretty decent in length. If you liked the wild area some it's got a ton more variety and actual weather that matches locations better rather than sandstorms in the middle of a grassy plain. It also looks a little bit better as well than the first wild area. Overall I'd say both did enough for me to feel satisfied with the price of it. I don't think we'll see it go on special at all anytime soon either. If you're in it for just the story and nothin else it might give you around 10 - 15 hours depending on how high of a level your pokemon are.

The game was never this. Not a criticism of your post but just laughing bc you must have misheard something or /vp/ was spreading slander. SwSh arent my favorite games in the franchise by any means but I think the DLC areas increased my enjoyment a lot. I think just having more wild areas adds a ton to the game. I had enough eshop points that the DLC was only like 15 for me so I got my money’s worth but I feel like 30 is still a little steep

Most of the time you have to go out of your way to intentionally cause the glitches people post here. A normal playthroughwon't see them.
As for the DLC, you can probably get about 3-5 hours of story from IoA and 6-8 from CT, but a lot more from just exploring. Both DLCs are almost completely open world.

The games were never broken, just laggy in the Wild Area when you're connected to the internet. And then there's pop-in and some people had trouble with the stamp refreshing. Other than that people often just talked about some poor textures in certain areas.

The DLCs depend on how long you explore the areas etc. Isle of Armor is pretty easy if you've already beaten the the post-game story. Might only take 2 or so hours and then what time you invest into Restricted Sparring. And then Crown Tundra is longer. It's a series of 4 main quests for Peony and then a sidequest for Sonia, followed by the Galarian Star Tournament. Only the Calyrex quest has much story to it. The Max Lair is where most time is spent in Crown Tundra. I think with everything you could squeeze 20+ hours out of the Expansion Pass.

By the time I had beaten the final boss I think I was at 23-hours. No idea at what time I got the wolf because I started doing the online raids only now and alot of time is spent waiting on retarded people to pick their moves.

You're not gonna find most bugs on a casual playthrough without knowing the bugsq exist. like who's gonna accidentally host a raid battle, change the date on their switch then stop hosting the raid? Who's gonna look for a battle in the y comm while online then enable airplane mode after finding a person but before selecting rules then change their system date? Who's gonna accidentally have a mew in their party, select a tr then hold down the analog stick while selecting mew and accidentally teach their Magikarp close combat?

Restricted Sparring is pretty much Battle Tower but it takes place in the battle court behind Mustard's dojo. You can't use story legendaries, you must use 3 Pokemon of the same type on your team and you only get limited heals in between a series of battles. It's more challenging than Battle Tower.

The Max Lair lets you a team of 3 other people or NPCs pick from rented Pokemon and do a series of Max Raid battles together until you reach the dynamaxed legendary at the end. You don't heal between battles and the team votes which path to take along the way if you're playing while connected to the internet. You can replace your rental with a Pokemon you catch in the lair or are given by a certain NPC you can cross paths with along the way. It's replayable due to the randomization.

IoA is confusing to me. I got the expansion pass a month ago or so but have only been doing Dynamax Adventures. My base game team is all level 100 so I assume I'm supposed to catch new Pokemon that I find in the Wild Areas of the expansions to go through their stories, but I'm not sure what the recommended level is supposed to be. I walked into IoA and caught three Pokemon but it felt weird and unnatural to just look for six Pokemon at once. I don't want to use my lvl 100 team but I also don't want to catch a whole new group if there aren't even going to be that many battles with them (and isn't the main thing only done with Kubfu? Are you even supposed to catch a new team for IoA?)

IoA is designed more as a sidequest than post-game. If you're already champion a Lvl 60 team will match the battles there, which is around the wild Pokemon level.

Are NPCs in Max Lairs decent, or is it useless to try doing anything with them? Finding real people to play with would be pretty problematic for me.

If you get teamed with bad human players at times they can be worse than the NPCs. Sometimes NPCs are good, sometimes they are bad.
