All through chapter 14 (GSC) is pretty good. After that it isn't awful but falls off a bit. If you're a diehard Pokemon fan you'd probably enjoy them all.

The only canon couple is Ruby and Sapphire, then we have the impliying between Black and White when Black come back from the dream World in the B2W2 saga, but is not confirmed as canon couple

It's made very clear that Blue is just teasing Red, to make him flustered. She doesn't actually feel that way about him. Yellow on the other hand does have a crush on Red, although Red seems to be unaware of the fact.

"it's cool until it isn't". The first few storyarcs are decent shonen adventure manga as long as you get over the writer cannibalising the cast of existing named game characters to fill the ranks of villainous antagonists. Adapting the story of Ruby/Sapphire to a slightly edgier shonen manga format seems really cool at first but that particular arc ends up jumping the shark hard with the ending being a textbook deus ex machina that reveses literal character deaths. The rest of the gen 3 arcs are pretty interesting in how they present the new features of their source material (frlg and emerald) and connect to past arcs and conclude the story thus far in a neat way.
After this point mileage may vary. Characters still have quirks and cool and unique stuff does happen, but as I recall Diamond/Pearl follows the original game plot more closely. Then there's some rushed short storyarcs to cover the other gen4 games and by Black/White you really start to feel the writer's pressure of wanting to write what he wants while also hitting the major story beats of the games, which have been getting more involved plots in the meantime. Then there's the constant need to advertise the features of the games getting in the way; it was handled rather elegantly back in the day with stuff like Gold's newly hatched Pokemon saving the day, but the reader is constantly bombarded with contrived ways to make shit like fucking Entralink relevant. The final nail in the coffin is the series being unable to keep up with the pace of making one arc for each game release, with arcs being both delayed and rushed to their ends.
tl;dr just let Kusaka make what he wants goddamn

I like the idea of the setting being similar to the games more than Ashnime, but I still think they go on some insanely stupid directions most of the time. I wish there was a fanartist trying to do a non-Nuzlocke webcomic for each generation and it being actually good

Take for example this completely unrelated cropped page, Sunkern evolved simply because "rocks in the area reflect sunlight just like Sun Stone". And the whole manga is like this. This feels refreshing for the first couple of chapters but quickly becomes annoying as hell.

RB chapter: A decent battle shonen, Nothing bad, nothing excelent
Yellow chapter: Meh, the last part was very decent tho.
GSC chapter: The peak of the manga, it has some asspulls, but overall the plot was interesting and the character were far more dynamic than the previous ones.
RS chapter: Pic Related but with the most shameless Deus Ex Machina in the history of the franchise
FRLG chapter: Surprisingly good, it was nice to see Red loose one battle and how he cope with it.
Emerald Chapter: Boring, the last part was the only good thing
DP Chapter: Very good, It has the best cast since GSC

I liked RS up until Groudon & Kyogre woke up. The Hoenn crisis lasted way too long and Ruby/Sapphire's romance was forced, resting on a stupid "we knew each other from childhood all along" twist. Maxie & Archie were also lame as hell compared to Giovanni or Mask of Ice.
XY had some nice moments and its nice to see all its characters actually get some use unlike the games, but the pacing is rushed even by PokeSpe standards and the art is a downgrade from BW.

I love what with did with the protagonists characters. They also actually made Magnolia relevant. And they gave Hop more of a character outside of Leon since he has a crush on Gloria. I think it's funny Marnie's characterization includes "annoyed by loud people" considering who her fans are. I want to see more of Gloria's battles since it focused more on Victor's so far.
