The pre release was something truly special. The initial trailer, the new Pokémon reveals, the leaks, everything. The music was a highlight for me from these games. It's a shame the plot, hand holding, Kanto pandering, and low amount of mons ruined it for me

Single best worldbuilding in the series. Only really outclassed by Gen 1 and 2 for their non-linearity and Gen 5 for its polish.
Gameplay and content-wise? Phenomenal but only when compared to how much Gen 7 cut.

For me, XY was the nadir of the series and I haven’t played a Pokemon game ever since.

I got a pre-owned version that had a fuck ton of legit shinies and older events that I missed. Thank you, Dani, whoever you are and wherever you are now.
The online was pretty good at times. I still like to Wonder Trade every now and then, I like keeping things with nice / funny nicknames.

I remember this. I bought Super Mario 3D Land to do this offer, and then only AFTER i bought the game and tried to enter the code, I found out that the offer was only for burgers. Wasn't too bitter about it because I ended up really enjoying Mario 3D Land

I remember a long trek from gym 1 to gym 2, and then the rest of the game being a sprint to Victory Road. I had a good time playing with my mates on release but we all moved on pretty quickly.
