There was waaaay more porn posted on /vp/ before this place went officially blue. It's why gary-bombing became a thing in the first place. Although I'd agree it used to be better overall, but that was also because things hadn't been talked about to death like things are now. The board always turns to shit when there's no releases. Gen VI and VII at least gave theorymon fodder with Megas and regional forms, plus everybody on the board actually bought those games. Gen VIII /vp/ is going to be bad until the next games are confirmed

Turns out discussion in general -including real life conversation- has become more and more politicized and polarizing since the latter half of the past decade.
Cancel culture and the fact that many people will judge you on following very strict speech rules or you're a someting-ist/ic. Stupid shit like "Is mayonnaise racist" has this effect on society and this is something you can see everywhere in the world besides maybe just a bunch of countries.
