Pokemon's postgame is like Megaman Battle Network where you're just brought back to the chapter immediately before the final boss. You still have psotgame tasks but there's no sense of completion since you're forever stuck at the point just before the end

Pokemon game that changes into Mystery Dungeon a third of the way through the game because the evil team kidnaps you and transforms you. You spend about half the game stuck fleeing from trainers that want to capture you and trying to find a way to transform back while working to ruin the Evil Team™. You are unable to swap from any pokemon you had at the time, can't rely on Pokecenters anymore (Need to find friendly trainers that heal "wild" pokemon and live off of berries for HP/PP, etc.) but you get significantly increased Friendship with the mons you had and can talk to them.

Pokemon have a different chance of performance in battle based on personality.
Shy and awkward personalities have a higher chance of running away from the fight no matter the encounter, agressive and abrasive personalities have a harder time running away from battle.
Shy personalities get an inherent boost in special attack while abrasive ones have a physical boost.
