>>45801334-Most game discussion is at its peak when the game is fresh or if there's talking points about the plot or characters. If not that, speculation when a new game is announced or new gen is underway.
-Things like mechanics and strategies don't really make for good watercooler talk because not everyone cares that much about competitive.
-Not everyone plays the card games either but there's overlap because waifufags get new official art or merch of their characters like the Skyla holder. Most of that's bragging rights for whose waifu really counts and all that.
-Anime gets discussed if there's a good battle or Ash beefs it along with a few other things people find interesting
There's only so much one can discuss on the franchise. Like any other game one can only talk about their game experiences so much before they get bored and try to find another way to pass the time. Waifufags are on repeat too, but at least it's something they don't tire of discussing and the choice to ignore the threads is always there. You can't get the same talking about your journey on the latest games or previous games without some asinine self imposed challenge or someone bitching about how QoL changes and game experience changes are raping the series because they don't play like old games. Most people check out after they beat the game or catch a mythical anyway.
