Wow I was today years old when I discovered Remoraid and Octillery are an evolutionary line. I've played Silver a dozen times and never used Remoraid. I thought they were both just single stagers.

I didn't know Darmanitan had a zen form until looking at a sprite sheet years after I played Gen 5. I was like "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING?"

Also unironically didn't know Cherrim had another form until Go. Apparently in Gen IV it transforms into the happy one at some point, but I guess I KO'd every Cherrim before it had a chance

Zen Form was stupid because it was only available in B/W and you only had, I think, one chance to catch it if you didn’t save before hand. Stupid as all get out.

Cherrim’s other form only appears in sunlight, so that’s fair too. Since it dies pretty fast. XD

I didn’t know that Fossil Pokémon (sans Galar, obviously) could be bred for their shiny form. I thought you were only able to revive fossils to get them. I reset my S/M for nothing, just to get more fossils.

I had literally no idea Blaine's Gym had questions in it until like a month ago, and FireRed was my first game as a kid.
I always thought you just had to battle each trainer to open the next door. I still don't like skipping trainers anyway, so the info is useless to me. But still strange.

I've played through all generations and some time along the line I convinced myself that some Pokémon were the wrong type. Like, I thought Golduck was Water/Psychic and that Gardevoir became solely Fairy type in gen 6
