From my understanding, they believe it to be the “obvious solution”. It appears they want to make their move now while that one Square Enix game is fresh in people’s minds. Apologies, but I can’t remember the name at this time.

As mentioned previously, it does not appear that the design choice was made with the intent to capture a specific group of people. I’d also go as far as today that it’s the easiest generation to build off of, since GF switched their codebase back in 2009.

Generation 9 is how the game is being labeled internally on most internal documentation. TPC also references some PT targets in our briefings as generation 9 assets.

truthfully its easier for them to design as they can be lazy about "animations" and such and people will say its good because its easier to make that stuff look okay than it is to make 3d models look passable. not that i believe the leak but i could see this being a move they make not because fans would be happier with it, but because it would possibly cost less money for them to make.

Thank you for helping me to remember. Fun fact, some of the developers were unhappy with some of the graphical choices in OT, primarily it’s heavy use of bloom, much so that it became a joke to frequently remind each other not to add too much bloom. Those chat archives are a couple of months old now, but I assume that I’d still be able to get a couple of devs laughing lol.
