I didn't play SM when it was released so I played USUM instead. It was good.
Then I played SM free with emulator. It was the same thing and I was kinda disapointed desu.

If your first problem with Gen 7 isn't the shift to checkpoint based progression then that's more of a mental issue than anything.
XY were the last Pokemon games.

Same. I got bored with SM in the first couple hours so I had no interested in playing enhanced SM. Maybe I'll give it another chance eventually.

There'd still be some issues like Alola being kinda linear, but yeah it really would vastly improve the game to be able to skip cutscenes/large dialogue dumps, because for what it's worth I really like the game even with these issues

this thread makes me want to buy USUM.. I only played through Moon once, but gen 7 is probably my favourite due to the ultra beast story and variety of pokemon available.. not to mention the anime was so comfy and really helped develop the trial captains into full fledged characters.

I preorded UM for reasons I can't remember, got it unexpectedly and thought it was meh. Then I got a New 2DS XL in the sales after Christmas that year and it came with Ultra Sun. It's still in the packaging.
