Peirce is the one who is behind having Team Yell go out and support Marnie while at the same time trying to discourage other contestants from completing the gym challenge to give Marnie an easier time going through the challenge herself. Team Yell actually sabotage gym battles and your trainer battle against Marnie similar to how Avary and Klara rigged their final match against you. It is not until you beat Peirce that Marnie reveals that she was disappointed that his brother issued this order in the first place. However, he states that he was hoping that, with Marnie's victory in the league, that will bring tourism and recognition to their town thus imporving the living conditions.

However, I would still think Chairman Rose would end up being the actual villain as he would be the one who gave Peirce the false hope of improving his town int he first place. Heck, it might even be that Chairman Rose asked his workers to rig several of yours and other contestant's matches to try and put you at a disadvantage; probably how Leon was the undefeated champ for so long.

Lusamine gets posessed by Nihilego, flees and get lost in the Ultra space, then Guzma starts searching for her, in the way he catches a Buzzwole. His new UB has the power of punching Ultra wormholes, when you defeat him he retreats through these portals.

You get back to Alola without Lusamine and now Guzma has the goal to find and bring back Lusamine.

The misfit team Skull has made the ultra space their home. In postgame ultra wormholes will appear and from these Skull grunts will appear to raid and get provisions for his leader. If you defeat them and Guzma you can go beyond the wormhole and catch UBs

Since you defeated Marnie, Piers see you as a menace for Marnie's triumph so he orders Team Yell to harrass you: they lure you into dark places where they amush you, they cheer on oponentes giving them boosts, Yell grunts infiltrate in gyms to hinder your challenge, etc.

He just hates you for not letting Marnie become champion and harras on you even in postgame
