>>45833031>Life orb recoil is no longer negated by sheer force. Noticed it on my copperajah during my playthroughSomething that few people realize is that Life Orb's recoil has never been "negated" by sheer force (yes, stay with me, hold all questions until the teacher is finished talking). Sheer Force first checks if a move has a secondary effect; if yet then it will negate those secondary effects and provide the power boost. Life Orb's recoil counts *as* one of these effects only if the check returns positive. If you try to use a Life Orb on a Pokemon that has Sheer Force and use a move without the secondary effect, then the check will return negative and the recoil damage will be taken as normal, because the game was told not to cancel those secondary effects: life orb recoil being one of them.
If you use, say, Earthquake on a Nidoking with Sheer Force and a Life Orb, then Nidoking will only get the LO power boost and suffer recoil. If you were to use Poison Jab though, because it has a chance to poison targets, SF will return positive and thus LO will provide it's boost but not deliver recoil in addition to the power boost SF provides.
tl;dr:
Sheer Force doesn't negate Life Orb's recoil directly, but does so indirectly. If you use a move without a secondary effect on a Sheer Force mon, it'll take the recoil. It's always been this way.
