As an adult I can say these games aren’t bad at all, but there are many problems
>certain major characters are blank, underutilized and or completely pointless (Hau, Lillie, Annabel)
>animations are clearly in the early stages, but disappointing and reused very very often
>new Pokémon designs obviously show less effort was put into them, going for the “it’s new but weird”, to the point of alienating itself from what most of us are used to, quite literally alienating with ultra beasts that are more often than not stupid looking or just plain bad
>nothing really wrong with the story, but vanilla SM had the better story and like BW2 making the story worse doesn’t really work for it
>there is no national dex for the second time, another practice like future proofing models and animations, that are ruining the games. Just because Pokémon are programmed in doesn’t make the natural lack of many Pokémon okay, most people don’t have giant collections to just transfer up.
>wormhole diving is a pisspoor method of handling legendary distribution, only slightly better than ORAS hoops that just start the battle in a rainbow light cloud like area
>rainbow rocket is an embarrassing ‘memberwhen arc, and should have either been given way more thought or scrapped completely
>the 3DS has a hard time running it, and Pokémon games are not graphically intensive games, so this poor optimization is a result of cutting corners and accepting flaws
Otherwise I had good fun with these games, probably my fourth longest played generation
