Pidgey and Piloswine are the only ones I'd say are particularly bad.
It's also easier to swalloe Johto gyms being "weak" when you know they're only the first half of the game

Stupid zoomers will never get that Johto wasn’t supposed to be it’s own region but a continuation of Kanto.
Regions being completely isolated came after Ruby and Sapphire

It had a warm inviting palette & soundtrack that hasn't been replicated in future gens, which seems to make up for the underwhelming gym and crappy monster distribution.

They used a less inviting blue color palette consisting of blues and yellows. NPC sprites don't pop out amongst the palette change like they did in the original. It's still a solid remake even though they couldn't transfer the player back to the year 2000 with it.

It's not a direct copy, it plays the GBC music slightly slower than the GBC did, tried lining both of them up a while back.
