I feel like anyone whos played pokemon had that edgy phase where they name their mons after mythology or famous fictional characters. Personally I find that to be lame as hell because I feel it doesn't allow the Pokemon to be as memorable because their character is attached to some other person or thing. What I do is either give them a basic name that is super generic (For example my appletun is named wilbur) or reference someone with a good sounding name that's name can stand on it's own (My A-Marowak is named Dante)

Sorry for rambling I'm just passionate about nicknames.

I dont usually nickname my mons on the first releases of a new gen
This helps me memorize the names of the new pokemon
And whenever I do nickname my pokemon it's just usually some whatever befitting name or any random shit i could think of. no deep meaning or anything because im shallow as fuck
