Back in my days I have to navigate through a dungeon and solve all the Ruins of Alph puzzle just to catch this shitter's prevolution AND I like it!

My problem is less that(though it would be better) but more than the method of catching them literally hasn't changed and the only sign of it changing is LG implementing Go's way which, while change is welcome, is worse.

You can get there through Union cave, solving all the puuzzles merely unlocks all the Unown forms child.
Maybe if you weren't 3 years old when they gave you the game, you'd have known that.
