In FRLG and Emerald there are a few frames of lag whenever you enter a pokemon center but only when you don't have a wireless adapter attached to your GBA.

because of an oversight, Azurill has a 75% female ratio whilst its evolutions are 50%
therefore, until it was fixed in gen 6, Azurills could change genders when it evolved, from female to male 1/3 of the time

Lombre and Ludicolo are the only Grass types that can learn Fire Punch.

All female pokemon in gen 2 have a lower attack stat than male pokemon because gender was determined by the attack IV (DV).

The range a female pokemon's attack IV can be is determined by the species' gender ratio. For pokemon like the starters and eevee (with a 7:1 M:F ratio), if it's female, its attack IV can only be 0 or 1.

Most people know Emerald has a broken RNG (game always starts on the same seed instead of a random one) but a lot of people don't know that the broken RNG only kicks in on save load. When you start a new game, the RNG works as intended and your starting seed is your trainer ID. So theoretically you could play through Emerald with a functioning RNG if you never shut off the game, meaning you'll hit actually unique frames instead of the same ones over and over every time you load your save.

The pre battle transissions (those little effects like zooming out and stuff) in gen 1 and 2 are different depending on how strong the Pokémon you are about to fight.

It means absolutely nothing to non-autists and casual players. Since the game starts at the same RNG seed every time for everyone on save load, it means everyone has the same pool of predetermined stat spreads to pull from when the game generates a Pokemon. So if you and I loaded up an Emerald save at the same time and got an encounter on the same frame, we will both encounter a Pokemon with the same exact nature and IVs.

It's only really noticeable in romhacks that uncap the FPS, but in Gen 4, the overworld will run SLIGHTLY better if you only have one pokemon in your party. I'm not saying it'll jump from 30-40 to silky smooth 60fps or anything, but you might notice the game running just a bit smoother in areas where there are usually framedrops.

How much would a casual notice this? If a friend and I did a playthrough together and were slightly off in timing, would we notice at all?
Does this impact shinies in any way- are they possibly predictable by going frame by frame?

the routine to randomise the seed is commentated out. it was a mistake.
what it means is that if you encounter a mon X frames in, it will always have certain spreads. you still have to hit frame perfect so unless theres a sound cue it isn't very useful.

You wouldnt notice at all unless you soft reset for pokemon. Theres a massive guide and write up done on this. There are ways to manipulate frames and predictably catch easy shiny legendaries by using a program timer with a delay once you find your secret ID. It is very broken and honestly makes emerald a better game for achieving perfect statted legitimate shiny legendaries.

Cutscene places tend to be treated as overworld maps, but you can load the peak as a dungeon tileset; it's how boss arenas work in Red/Blue Rescue Team - they're pre-rendered tilesets that you can access by changing the value to high enough numbers.

iirc, Mew (I think Ditto too) can learn crabhammer any move in gen 2 through a Sketch move glitch (which is the reason Sketch will fail if the pokemon caster is transformed in gen 3 onwards) but you need two games so you can use the mystery gift

Posted this in the previous thread but might as well post it here too.

In the gen 5 games you can tap your Pokemon with the stylus and it will turn around, showing you its backsprite. You can also do various other motions with the stylus and the Pokemon will respond. If you rub the pokemon from left to right it will start to jump from side to side, if you rub it up and down it will start to jump upwards and if you rub it in a circular motion its animation will stop and it will start to slowly rise into the air.

More than you might expect, but mostly because Sunny Day and Rain Dance are so widely distributed. If you're only counting moves that do damage, Octillery, Slowbro, and Emboar were some that I found.

There exists a rage glitch in HGSS that allows normally illegal egg move combinations and for ditto and mew to learn any move through transform/rage/sketch shenanigans. Too bad,these illegal movesets cannot be moved to Gen 6.

Was bored so decided to figure it out. Came up with a 6 byte patch that disables the wireless adapter check when entering a pokemon center. You can see the addresses and bytes to change in the pic. Only for Leaf Green (USA).

You can encounter Munchlax in PMD resce team multiple times, when you speak to him sometimes he will ask you for food and give you the munch belt. Other times he will only respond with "..." and will not give you anything.
You can still get multiple munch belts from him though.
