When I was a kid, I played through gen 1 and 2 once each
got 12-15 Pokémon to lvl. 50, tried variant movesets that would get rid of surprises and played the stadium of the corresponding gen.

the gen 2-3 gap allowed me to play many rpgs that were much better than pokemon
a game's side monster arena was leagues and bounds above Pokémon despite being produced the same year in japan 96'

Once I figured out about iv/evs and natures, I said fuck it and turned my back on the whole shit. There are better games out there don't require you do that shit.


Honestly you should play something else, try to find rare games in the same genre.
There is better shit out there.
