I haven’t played since Sun and Moon but I recently bought a Switch light and want some games to play. Should I buy Shield? Is it worth the $60? Or does the game become completely boring and empty after finishing the main plot?

On topic: pic related. Obviously not because I grew up with it (my first game ever was Blue) but just because it's the most complete package: large variety of pokemon, a way more fleshed out Unova with a shitton of content, robust plot to follow, best OST in the series, and a big postgame. It has anything you could want in a Pokemon game. I'd argue it's the last time GameFreak actually put effort into their games.
Either this or Emerald just because Hoenn is the best region

either way, xy was like my second pokemon game ever but i later realised that imo all the best pokemon games can be played on a ds (gen 3 to 5, remakes included)
hard for me to pick a specific one among these tho, each is really good at a different thing

Loving every laugh. I'm a Sinnohfetus but Kalos was the last good gen and the swan song of the golden era. You can like it or hate it but it quantifiably did nothing but build off of base BW. Gen 7 removed the most content and offered nothing in return and yet you retards still are so desperate to push the narrative that it's not so bad because LOOK! No battle frontier! Two Charizard megas!

Sure thing, kid.
You know. You shouldn't have to scour an imageboard desperately trying to get people to agree with your likes and dislikes. It's apparent from just playing SM/USUM and XY side by side which is better and more engaging as not just a game, but a Pokemon game.
Gen 7 and 8 will always be borderline spinoff territory and nothing will ever change that.
