Despite it being a less than stellar entry in the Pokemon franchise, what are the things you like about this game?

Some of the music was pretty good. The Slumbering Weld theme is probably the best piece of music in the game and is up there with some of my favorite non-battle themes.
I like the Pokemon designs a lot more than I should. My favorites being Runerigus, Dragapult, Wooloo, Toxtricity, the Hatterene line, and Frosmoth.
Marnie is the only rival I like and I give Bede a pass because he bullies Hop.

I like the overworld/wild lands areas, I think most of the new Pokémon are decent, and I think the new legendaries are all pretty cool.

characters are great and actually memorable this time around
for the first time the Gym league feels convincing and relevant as part of the world, with the celebrity aura it lends to the leaders
the G-max designs are really well done - i like Orbeetle, Alcremie, Garbodor and Inteleon's
the customization options are the best in a Pokemon game
the concept of the wild area, which is made even better by the Crown Tundra's environment
Dynamax Adventures are a lot of fun if you get decent teammates
improved QoL features make the post-game stuff more accessible which is great

This could've been a halfway decent Pokemon game desu. The biggest problems stem from how they approached the gameplay with an extremely handhold-y approach, the design of the routes and wild area, and the writing.
I always like to imagine what could've been with this game whenever I have a shameful itch to play it again. It really good have been a good game, not god tier, not even great, but a decent outing you'd genuinely want to return to once in a while.

I hate SwSh and its supersizing Pokemon, but I can still name a couple of things I like about it.
Pokemon I like are Rillaboom, Orbeetle, Corviknight, Drednaw/Gmax Drednaw, Coalossal, Toxtricity, Centiskorch, Hatterene, Grimmsnarl, Obstagoon, Indeedee, Duraludon, Dragapult, and Zamazenta.
Aside from that, not a whole lot. I liked the trainer customization though, even though it still felt pretty empty. I also like Melony and all of her hentai. Nature altering was also great. And I like that important battles actually feel important, like pic related. Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros, imo.

Corviknight, Toxtricity, and Grimmsnarl were some of the few mons that came out of Galar's dex imo. I like the big gym stadiums with a crowd, but the dynamax stuff ruins it for me. There's some good tracks in the OST, but the way people chant and the dog howling ruins it for me. I like the quality of life changes but the restriction of playstyle (i.e. turning off exp share) ruin it for me. I might as well just call it Sword and Sword with how double edged these games were.

Great quality of life changes, new sprites, the DLC areas, getting to see pokemon in the overworld, the amazing music, the routes can be visually appealing, max lairs are very fun, and the characters are great, if only they were in a good story

I'm not very far in, but I think the wild area is pretty okay. Its just cool that there are overworld encounters like let's go. I like that a lot.

Probably the best availability of Pokémon before the third badge, even better than BW2. The EXp stuff is a bit annoying unless you use a dedicated capture team but you can make so real diverse teams. Play the raids can get you cool shit early.

Overworld encounters. Trainer cards. Box Link. Easy to swap moves via the move rememberer/forgetter in each Pokemon Center. Can get into online right away with mints, vitamins, bottle caps etc. Cram-o-Matic. Can try out certain teams in online with rental codes. The exp candies make training up new team team members very quick.

Eternatus is cool as shit
The whole gym stadium asthetic was really exciting and well done
I really liked Sirfetch'd, a faithful evolution of one of my long time favorites
Raids were cool in concept, I wish they were harder really
some of the locations were really rad looking, Hammerlocke in particular
Galarian Articuno has really grown on me after using it a bit, g-moltres is great too
A few of the G-max forms were fun, blastoise in particular
even though Zacian is really busted its way better than herb xern meta

that's all I can think of off the top of my head

compared to ultra moon and sun they ruined the battle tower. HOWEVER imo the vgc format is the most balanced it's ever been, and the ease with which you can change a pokemon's nature, ability and ev train etc. makes building a comp team much easier than previous gens. I transferred my shiny metagross in a heavy ball from UM and i'm having a blast online.

the pve is flawed but the comp battling is good, as is pokemon home integration and the dlc. overall i like the games a lot.

the battle tower was so good in UM tho... how could they fuck it up so badly?

I enjoyed the game and respect your opinion, but I can't help but think that Zacian and Zamazenta are the lamest version mascots yet. Too similar to each other, pretty much inexistent lore and no feel of grandeur in their design. I heavily dislike Eternatus too since its design was undecipharable to me for a long time. It's too abstract and doesn't look like anything in particular.

I like the character designs, and the implementation of the League Challenge being similar to like, a sports thing felt pretty nice
The Wild Area is conceptually cool, an open space to explore and catch Pokemon, done a bit better with the DLC areas
