I'll start
>a run where you play like N and you catch and raise a team based on the closest available Pokemon before a Gym Leader, then you box 'em or release 'em after and create a new team

I guess you could try a no-catching run. You're only allowed to use Pokémon you receive as gifts, in-game trades, fossil revivals, etc.

Another good name-based challenge might be to only catch pokemon with the same initial as you. It would be interesting because you might have to keep some pokemon unevolved or use different species entirely.
