i am a charizardfag
i did enjoy him getting two mega evolutions but i would've preferred a mix of the two
design wise, i actually prefer gmax charizard to all its other forms
i do like venusaur and blastoise, though their megas are in comparison (like most megas) kinda garbage, but i actually enjoy the gmax designs a lot
i recognize that charizard's getting an unfair treatment and the shit is getting pretty stale
the gen 8 champion getting a charizard as his main mon was especially cringe since we, as charizardfag, need to accept that without his megas he's a literal shitmon, especially compared to venusaur
despite all this i won't stop liking charizard anytime soon because i honestly don't give a shit if it's suddenly become cringe
now to answer your question, i'm an exception among zoomers, and i've actually talked to pretty few people who like charizard or don't find him cringe
so basically, the reason game freak started spamming le zard in the first place is because boomers never gave a shit about the other two in comparison
maybe things would've been different if ash got a blastoise instead, who knows
