I just wanted a gryphon, the Welsh dragon, or a cat sith, damn it. It almost feels like they went out of their way to make the Pokémon distinct and disconnected from the real world inspiration for the region. Perhaps they want to keep the Pokémon world a separate universe from our own so it has its own identity, rather than being our world but with magical creatures. But if that is their intent, it falls flat in the face of all of the British references in the geography, storyline, and Pokémon themselves. That’s not to mention how intertwined previous regions have been with their real world counterparts or the huge marketing push they have made in the UK with the temporary store and the bus. It’s confusing.
