Even if N was made Champion, it meant little, but by toppling the regions most powerful trainers, then unleashing the Castle structure onto the he League, Ghetsis would have probably had enough sway behind him to topple any of Unova’s resistance if N had actually won for him, and then claimed Unova as his new base of power, or rather established a rather old Kingdom.
Ghetsis, the most despicable and perhaps most disillusioned of the main Villain teams, save maybe Flare’s leader. He truly thought he had a claim to an old seat of power, either through his own blood and/or N’s, and he would have gotten away with it (twice) if it wasn’t for us meddling kids and our Pokémon too.
