Why do they keep shilling Lance so much lately? Shouldn't it be some Sinnoh character for the upcoming remakes?

In season XY, there wasn't character of Hoenn, only Steven but he left after of ORAS was released. Also this season is based in all regions.

Not that anon, but this still makes me wonder /why/ they’re shilling him. I’m not well versed in the anime; in the past, have random characters been purposefully shilled outside of their regions without it leading to anything? I can absolutely believe that they do that for story reasons or nostalgia, but I’d just like to know if this has a precedent or if Lance’s presence is something to pay attention to.

Remakes are still about 10 months away, leaves plenty of time for Leon to dab on Lance.

I thought so, I was more pointing out that it was interesting that he used it over Dragonite, since that Pokemon is more commonly associated with Lance. The fact that they brought him in with Gyarados could be a Johto reference if Let's Go Johto is next.
