SWSH were a mess with all things considered. their excuse for cutting pokrmon was for higher graphics and animation. which is a lie. the wild area is ugly. pokemon aren't properly scaled like in let's go. and the following feature(which you need to pay extra 30 bucks for.) and the pokemon appearing in the overworld were a massive downgrade from let's go. SWSH aren't bad. but they pale in comparison against let's go. the only point i give it. is it had more content.

at least they were scaled. in SWSH the same exact pokemon that were in let's go aren't scaled. and half the kanto pokemon were cut.
the following feature was the best it could be in let's go. having all 153 with unique animations and having over 15+ to be ridable is a billion times better than the abomanation that is SWSH's following feature.
not having pokemon be shiny or even spawn properly in the overworld is the reason why its downgraded. considering they had an extra year but they didn't even bother to implement it properly.
ugly comparison but take it like this. i rather have a 4 ounce fully well done steak then a 10 ounce raw steak. sure. the 4 ounce isn't filling. but it least its edible.

I would take a polished game with 153 Pokemon over a shit game with all of them any day.
The fact is that SWSH is neither of these.
That said, I don't consider LGPE "modern Pokemon" because it's more akin to the classic games like Gen 6 and below than anything else. Modern Pokemon is nothing. But a checkpoint fest.
