I still can't believe it.
There was so much hype for SM that it all came crashing down when the game was released. There are people still hyping Alola up even today as if they never even played the games and are in a permanent state of pre-release hype.

Reminder that Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra dexes are also bloated, with over half of the spaces in them being taken up by Pokemon that were already in the base game.
The entries are also identical, meaning the numbers in these dexes serve no purpose but to make it seem like there's more content than there really is. SM/USUM also did this.

USUM did add a lot of new pokemon though, and it even gave entirely new dex entries to pretty much every pokemon, since the pokedex entries in previous games were mostly recycled

I hated this shit.
Not only did it make the game look worse depending on your preferences, some areas and items would be locked off depending on the season.
I'd rather each area just be designed with a certain look in mind and don't timegate shit for no reason.

I thought heart gold was great but I can't approve of its safari zone time gates seeing as it was something like... 77 days to wait to get Aggrons in there, or something? I had moved on and played through multiple gens by then and I have never gone back to catch one.

I don't know why the VS. Seeker isn't a series staple. Sure you have the facitlities but they don't give exp. and you have to go to specific places for them. I don't like the NPCs being one and done. Much cooler when you could call or rematch them and see their team grow

I think it was a good idea poorly executed
They should have done a little better job graphically and nothing should have been timegated
It should have really just had an effect on wild pokemon a la the day/night cycle

They should have made it so seasons change HOW you interact with the overworld not whether or not you can, like with the gated items and such. Somethig like how on route 8 it can have tiles where you'll run into wild pokemon, or in the winter it'll have something like an ice puzzle. It changes how you experience parts of the game without time gating content, essentially just adding to replayability

I was at my family's house a couple months ago and even locally it took 30+ seconds just to fucking connect. Raids are basically impossible to join stuff you actually want unless you host
